Poovar Island In Kerala - Backwater Cruise Review

Golden sand beach - Poovar Kerala
Even being a native of Thiruvananthapuram, I haven't went to many of the tourist attractions in here. Lately, I've decided to look up at least some of the most popular places and it was by chance that I got an opportunity to visit Poovar Isaland. It was nearly a 50 km ride from my place but we enjoyed all the way till there.

Once we reached there, it was nirvana! We were on a beach with sea on one side, where we could see the beautiful sunset, and backwaters a little forward on the the other side. The borders of backwaters followed a random curved path and were surrounded by lush green trees and bushes. The sinking sun's dark-orange rays passed through the clouds and hit the tides and moist land in front of it and made us feel that we were staring at some gold island. Later, the tourist guide Mr. Michel explained to us that this beach is also referred as the Golden Sand beach because of this magnificent effect of the sun.

The crowd of crows were unusually larger than other beaches, and they were randomly flying around and sitting in two huge, old, abandoned but classic buildings that was built years before to conduct classes for Kalaripayattu (an exclusive martial art of Kerala).

The Backwaters and Boat Cruise at Poovar

The highlights that makes Poovar stand-out is of course the backwaters and the boat cruise there. The backwaters contain 2-3 floating restaurants. Boat cruises are provided for a reasonable charge, you'll be taken for a 2 hour ride in the backwaters. Charges are usually based on per-head basis.

Cost of Boat Cruise at Poovar
The cost of boat cruise at poovar varies according to the provider you choose. Its always better not to ask middle-men (auto-drivers etc.) about the available boat cruise. The provider will end up being forced to charging you for paying the commission to the middle-man as well.
The rides are charged Rs.400 - Rs.600 per person.

Poovar is one great place where you could see the vibrant diversity of nature in Kerala and how powerful the combinations of natural phenomenons could happen to be!

I wanted to write this review so that people who are looking for a good MBA program can get a hand-on review about the distance MBA offered by the ICFAI Sikkim. I've been through all the cycles of this program and this review might help you make the right choice about the program. This article presents my own ( and unbiased ) view of the program and is in no way associated with the course provider.

Is the MBA ICFAI Sikkim Approved By UGC?  As per the latest AICTE regulations, a distance education program must have the approval of a joint commission of  UGC- University Grant CommissionAICTE- All Indian Council for Technical EducationDEC- Distance Education CouncilICFAI Sikkim doesn't have this approval (don't get disappointed, it's not over yet). Only institutes and colleges affiliated to a University are required to take AICTE approval. So ICFAI be…

I'm a passionate java developer who just migrated from a Windows PC netbook ( Dell mini ) to a 13 inch MacBook Air. Before the netbook I owned a Dell inspirion 1501. I'm quite a bit of an avid blogger as well. I purchased Dell mini just as it was launched hoping that it's compact and mobile architecture would solve all of my need as a programmer and a writer. Unfortunately it turned out that it was a worthless device. The rest of the story goes...
